By using different methodological and theoretical approaches historians, philosophers, and theologians engage in an interdisciplinary debate that contributes to a better understanding of the religio-political situation of early modern Europe and the interpretation of violent conflicts interpreted as religious conflicts today. Harriet Rudolph is Professor of Modern History (Early Modern Times) at the University of Regensburg, Germany. Wolfgang Palaver is Professor of Catholic Social Thought and Dean of the School of Catholic Theology at the University of Innsbruck, Austria. From 2007 to 2011 he was president of the 'Colloquium on Violence and Religion'. Dietmar Regensburger is Assistant Professor of Systematic Theology at the University of Innsbruck, Austria.
