This is a great book!

A little girl named Emma has to leave her house and move to a farm . Emma does not want to move she likes her house and backyard but her mother wants Emma and her baby brother Joshua to grow up with fresh air to breath, and green fields to run and play in Emma is not so sure . But Emma changes her mind when her parents give her Sheltie a Shetland pony Emma loves Sheltie and a women named Mrs. Linney teachs her how to ride Sheltie , Soon Emma rides Sheltie every day everythings great But MR. Crock thinks the little Shetland pony is eating his cabbages and one time he even tied Sheltie to a tree ! The summer fair is coming up where the Nasty Mr. Crock is selling is cabbages but more are disapearing . Can a little girl and a small Shetland find the real theft ?

Great Moral

My 7 year old daughter enjoyed reading this book to me and was so excited to know that she had figured the mystery out before the end. She also figured out the moral of the story before they had a chance to explain that stealing and lying was not appropriate. This is one of the first Horse stories that she has read and really sank her teeth in it. She was toting the book everywhere she went, which of course made me proud of her. What a morale booster for kids. The story was holsum and refreshing. We look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Sheltie the Shetland Pony

This is the best chapter book that I have ever read on my own - even better than the Magic Treehouse books! It is about a little girl named Emma who doesn't want to move, but then her parents surprise her with a pony, Sheltie. Sheltie is really sweet and nice but very mischievious. She solves a mystery in the story, with the help of Emma. I read it in one day because the story was so interesting and I liked the characters so much. I can hardly wait to read the rest of the books in the series.

About the Author
Ron Jackson received the bachelor's and master's degree from Queen's University and the doctrine from the University of Toronto. His time in Vineland, Ontario, and subsequently at Cornell University redirected his interest in plant disease toward viticulture and enology. As part of his regular teaching duries at Brandon University, he developed the first wine technology course in Canada. For many years he was a technical advisor to the Manitoba Liquor Control Commission, developed sensory tests to assess the tasting skills of members of its Sensory Panel, and was a member of its External Tasting Panel. He is also the author of Conserve Water, Drink Wine and several technical reviews. Dr. Jackson has resigned from his position as a professor and the chair of the Botany Department at Brandon University to concentrate on writing. He is allied with the Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute, Brock University.

Wine Science by Ronald Jackson is an incredibly valuable book for any wine student or seriously geeky wine lover...

In it, thorough explanations of viticulture & winemaking principles and relations to the style & quality we can expect in wine influenced by those techniques. Jackson demystifies a whole series of concepts that are so misunderstood today in the wine world, even by so-called wine experts. Putting many principles in their proper perspective, they become alive & wine making become a thing of beauty...

Very informative. Much like a text book, so I hope you are not looking for an easy read for education on wine and grapes.

The organization of the subjects is very logical with the beginning of crops to the end of wine and regions.

I am a V&E student in college and I can greatly appreciate this book.

About the Author
Dr Richard Stephens is the winner of the Wellcome Trust Science Writing Prize 2014. He is a lecturer at Keele who married a human statue and races cars in his spare time. His research on the psychological benefits of swearing has been the focus of international media attention including television appearances on BBC's The One Show and Stephen Fry's Planet Word. Richard and his team picked up an Ig Nobel Prize in 2010 in recognition of science that "first makes you laugh and then make you think". Richard is a founder member of the international Alcohol Hangover Research Group and Chair of the British Psychological Society Psychobiology Section.

It's an academic peer review sort of book, which is not boring but the Benefits of Being Bad mention studies that make you question the evidence, because the evidence seems to be geared towards the specific theme of the book; finding evidence that being bad has positives. It's a quick read, but the hidden benefits of being bad do not overcome the benefits of being good.
